The St. John's R/C Flyers is a MAAC affiliated club, located in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. It was formed in 1975 to promote the hobby of radio controlled model aviation in St. John's and surrounding areas. From September to May on the second Wednesday of the month, we meet at Woodland Nurseries.

While we still fly from the grass air field in Harbour Grace and the paved air strip on Bell Island on occasion, in September of 2013, after years of searching and several rejected applications, we were successful in acquiring several hectares of crown land on the Witless Bay Line as a permanent home for our club field. Initial development began in October 2013 when the field was cleared and graded. Topsoil and seeding was finished in the summer of 2014 and first flights occurred October 1. Safety fencing was installed in May 2015 and ongoing improvements will continue but the hard part is done.

Our membership has remained constant for a number of years with around 25 to 30 members annually. To help promote the hobby and the club, we've held or participated in a number of events over the years such as several static displays at the Snowbirds aerobatics team event in CBS, Gap Court in the Avalon Mall, and the IPMA show at the Holiday Inn as well as numerous school and club presentations. We also fly indoors through the fall and winter. See the link on the home page fror more info on this.

The club is open to anyone with an interest in building or flying model aircraft. We provide flight instruction to help you get your "wings", promote safety and provide assistance in building and repairing model aircraft. See the Membership page for the current fees and the application. Membership in the Model Aeronautics Association of Canada (MAAC) is mandatory for all. Check out for more information.

Visitors to our meetings and our field are always welcome. If you have any questions or would like more information, click here to view the club contact page.
